The Stars have found their playoff groove. They need to win two more games to advance further into the playoffs; teams with a 2-0 lead in the best of seven are 243-280 SU. A bad stat for the Stars is that they are 1-7 SU at home in seven playoff games. Goalie Marty Turco might have something to say about that. Turco has played superbly in net, stopping 53 shots on net. He’s currently 2-0 with a 1.00 GAA in two playoff games. The Stars are getting goals from multiple players, not just their superstars. Loui Eriksson and Jere Lehtinen each have two goals while Mike Modano, Mike Ribeiro, Brenden Morrow, Brad Richards and Steve Ott have all chipped in a goal. In fact 9 of 18 players have atleast a goal or an assist. They are 23-16-1-1 on home ice and 12-2 SU during their last 14 at home.
The Ducks just can’t find a way to score goals against Stars goalie Marty Turco. They are 1 for 9 on the power play in two games and their penalty kill has been horrendous allowing 6 of 13. In game 1 the Ducks were shutout 0-5, goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere allowed 5 of 22 shots to enter the net. Game 2 saw goals from Teemu Selanne and Travis Moon, but their top scorer Ryan Getzlaf has been held to one assist. Part of their offensive troubles may be the absence of Corey Perry, who’s been out since March 7 with a leg laceration; he had 29 goals and 25 assists before the injury. The Ducks have opted for a rough gritty defensive style of play that saw them win the Cup last year, but that has since fallen by the way side. They finished their season with a 2nd ranked 2.2 GAG, now their looking at 4.50 GAG in their last two games. Giguere just can’t figure out the Stars recent insurgence of offense. The Ducks are 19-18 SU on the road and they are1-3 SU in Dallas.
Recent Trends to Consider
The Bottom Line: The Stars haven’t been impressive in the playoffs on home ice in the past, but that was then. With the hometown fans pumped, the Stars will come out hard and fast. Marty Turco is the man in net. Get your NHL Betting in now at BetUS.com
