The Sens received some bad news as Jason Spezza will be out of the lineup tonight with a leg Injury. Daniel Alfredson is questionable tonight, but has not been ruled out. These two are the top producers for the Sens with 74 goals and 107 assists combined. They’ve allowed 3.20 GAG in their last five games thanks to their shotty goalkeeping. Martin Gerber has lost eight of his last ten starts for a 3.40 GAA. Last year’s playoff great Ray Emery has turned into a flop. He’s lost his last three straight and he only played one game in March, which was a loss. The Sens will be hoping to get a boost from their home town fans, but with little offense on the ice, their fans won’t be doing too much chearing. They are 22-15-1-3 on home ice, but are 1-4 SU in their last five at home.
The Penguins are looking like a team that’s ready to go all the way in the playoffs. Their game plan is to press the Sens defense right at the start of the game. In the first two games the Pens outscored the Sens 3-0 in the first period and they’ve outshot the Sens 89-56 total. They are getting goals and assists from multiple players, Evgeni Malkin has a goal and five assists, Crosby has four assists, Petr Sykora has three goals and even old timer Gary Roberts has two goals. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury started both games, he recorded his fourth shutout in game 1 and he allowed three goals on 30 shots during game 2. The Pens are 3-3 SU against the Sens this season and 0-2 SU in Ottawa. They are 21-17-2-1 overall away from home.
Recent Trends to Consider
The Bottom Line: The Penguins are what the Senators were. The Sens started out the season as offensive power houses, now they have troubles finding the back of the net, while the Pens are. Get your NHL Playoff Prediction in now at BetUS.com
