The Nashville Predators are hoping their five game win streak and five days of rest will help them out when they head to Detroit to take on the first place Red Wings. In eight meetings this season, Detroit leads 5-3 SU. Betway.com has the Red Wings as -260 over the Predators with the over/under posted at 5. Get your NHL Playoff Prediction in now at BetUS.com
The Wings finished the season in first place in the Western Conference with 115pts, seven more than any other team. As for their goalie situation, the Red Wings are sticking with Dominik Hasek in net instead of Chris Osgood, who helped make Detroit one of the hardest teams to score against. They’re going with Hasek based on his 115 playoff games played. As for offense they have some of the most productive players in the league in Pavel Datsyuk (31), Henrik Zetterberg (43), and Niklas Lidstrom not to mention all the playoff experience they have. Detroit enters the playoff winning seven of their last ten where they’ve scored on the power play in all but one game. Their defense is ranked 1st overall and their penalty kill sits ranked 8th. Detroit is heavily favored to win Lords Stanley Cup. They are 29-9 SU on home ice.
The Preds enter the playoffs going 5-0-1 in their last six to secure eighth place in the West. With a well rested healthy team, the Preds will be looking toward goalie Dan Ellis to shut down the Wings. He recently set a franchise record with a 233:38 shutout stretch and made 147 straight stops, the NHL's longest streak this season, and finished with a league-high .924 save percentage. He’s finished the season 23-10-2-1 with a 2.34 GAA and a .924 SVPCT. As for offense they sit ranked 14th overall averaging 2.80 GAG. They have four top players with 20 goals or more, but their power play has been held scoreless in five games. Their defense has been superb on the penalty kill by not allowing a goal in seven straight games.
