Philadelphia Flyers (+120) vs. Pittsburgh Penguins (-140)
Sunday, March 16, 2008
Total: 6
Pick: Penguins -140
With Sidney Crosby the Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the best team in the NHL with such a potent offense that includes last year’s NHL MVP and Evgeni Malkin, Ryan Malone, and Jordan Staal.
The Flyers have not played well of late and are 2-7 in their last 9 road games, 5-15 in their last 20 overall and are 15-37 in their last 52 vs. the Atlantic Divison while the Penguins are 13-5 in their last 18 home games which is bad news for the Flyers that are on the cusp of the playoff race sitting at 8th spot with 80 points. The Penguins are playing very well as they disposed of the Sabres 7 to 3 with ease. Despite the fact that Sidney Crosby will likely miss at least the next three games with soreness in his right ankle. Crosby sat out the Penguins' victory over the Sabres on Wednesday after feeling pain in his ankle during the morning skate and they still beat them with ease.
The fact that Crosby might not played will get you even better NHL betting odds as the games draws nearer. When Crosby was injured before Evgeni Malkin stepped up to the plate and Pittsburgh were on a roll. Without Crosby the Penguins should fine and at home they have a great home betting record 20-10-2-3 all season long.
Bottom Line: The Flyers are a good team with all the pieces but they have not played well all year long and against the Penguins going with the home team going 4-0 in their last 4 meetings and the Flyers are just 1-6 in the last 7 meetings in Pittsburgh.
