The Ottawa Senators have had some major issues after losing six of their last ten games. With all their fire power what’s a GM to do? Simple, fire the head coach. GM Bryan Murray will attempt to get his team restarted tonight as their coach. The Sens have lost back to back games, they’ve failed to score a goal in both games and their goalies have allowed nine goals. Goalie Ray Emery and Martin Gerber haven’t played well recently. Emery is 2-3-1 with a 3.40 GAA in his last six starts while Gerber is 0-3-1 with a 3.27 GAA in four starts since last winning on Jan. 29. They’ve averaged just 1.60 GAG in their last five games and their power play has one goal in seven games. The Sens still sit on top of the Northwest Standings, but Montreal and New Jersey are right on their heels. They need to get back to being the offensive power houses they were at the beginning of the season, which they will! Get your NHL Pick in now!
The Philadelphia Flyers got their first win in ten games after they beat the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 (SO) as underdogs. They’ve been hit by the injury bug, with injuries to Mike Richards, Vaclav Prospal, Joffery Lupol and Simon Gagne who are their main producers. They’ve averaged 2.0 GAG in their last five games and they’ve scored a power play goal in each of their last two games. Overall the Flyers offense is good for a 4th ranked 3.0 GAG and they have the 2nd best power play in the league.
On defense they’ve allowed 3.0 GAG in their last five games and their penalty kill has allowed one goal in four games. Goalie Martin Biron got the win against Buffalo and is expected to start tonight. He’s 21-16-5 with a 2.73 GAA.
Bottom Line: The Sens feel bad about their coach being fired. They will have to come out fighting tonight if they want to prove that their playoff ready, not to mention for the fans sake. Get your NHL Pick in now!
