Colorado Avalanche at Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks go for a season high five wins tonight when they face off against the newly fired up Colorado Avalanche.

The Vancouver Canucks host the Colorado Avalanche, at G.M.Place, for some bone crushing NHL action. SBG Global currently has the Vancouver Canucks as 155-moneyline favs over the Avs with the over/under set at 5 ½. The series is tied at 2-2.

The Colorado Avs juiced up their offense with the additions of Peter Forsberg and Adam Foote. Forsberg will not be playing tonight but Adam Foote will be. Foote logged nineteen minutes in the game against the Flames last night. The Avs 3-2 (OT) win was partly due to the tough gritty style that Foote plays.  Colorado has two wins on their five game road trip and they can’t wait to get back home where they can debut Forsberg. They have only been able to muster up 1.80 GAG while their power play has three goals in eight games. The biggest problem for the Avs is their goaltending situation. Peter Budaj has lost three straight and he has one road win in his last four starts. He has an overall 2.62 GAA and is 15-9-4. Their penalty kill has not allowed a goal in two games. They are 15-15-2-2 on the road and they sit in 4th place in the Northwest Standings, tied with Vancouver.

The Vancouver Canucks made one minor trade on trading day. They acquired Matt Pettinger, from Washington, for Matt Cooke, which is pretty much trading for the same player basically. Pettinger had two goals and seven points in 56 games for the Caps. The Canucks have four wins in a row and they’ve averaged 3.40 GAG. Their power play has improved, scoring a power play goal in their last four games. Goalie Roberto Luongo has allowed 2.2 GAG and he has three wins in his last five at home. His overall record is 28-18-7 with a 2.19 GAA and a .923 SVPCT. The Canucks sit in 3rd place in the Northwest Standings and are 17-11-0-3 at home.

Game: Colorado (32-26-3-3) at Vancouver (32-22-0-8)
Faceoff: Wed, Feb 27, 2008 10:00 PM ET
Line: SBG Global.com
Pick: Colorado +135

Bottom Line: The Avs are pumped and they’re going to come out hitting HARD. The Canucks will take too many penalties and it’s going to end up costing them. Get your NHL pick in now.
