GAME: Boston Bruins (29-23-3-3) at Carolina Hurricanes (30-28-3-1)
DATE/TIME: Tuesday, February 19 - 7:00 PM EST
The injury plagued Hurricanes are in for a tough battle tonight against a struggling Bruins organization. The Canes will be without captain Rod Brind'Amour, who will likely miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his left knee, and Ray Whitney (groin) and Erik Cole (flu) were both scratched. Whitney and Cole have a combined 85pts. The Canes have six wins in their last ten, but recently lost 1-5 to the N.J. Devils.
The Bruins lost their fifth straight to the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 (OT). The Canes have an average goaltender in Cam Ward who’s allowed 3.80 GAA, in his last five, while the Bruins goalie Tim Thomas has hit a bit of a slump. He’s lost four of five and he’s allowed 3.20 GAA in his last five. They have recently acquired Alex Auld to help out in net. Marc Savard, Zdeno Chara are the Bruins top performers and Marco Sturm and Chuck Kobasew both have 19 goals so far.
Carolina has a home record of 15-11-2 while the Bruins are 15-11-3 on the road.
Bottom Line: When in doubt go with the home team.
