“You were so good in 1994.” Trevor Linden finally retires and no one has anything else to say except “Do you remember how good he was 14 years ago? Wow, we are losing a great player today. Ummm...the Canucks aren’t that great of a team, we all know this, right? And old man Linden was usually warming the bench… or pouring on tiger balm. But that’s Canucks’ fans for you, even if you give 50% percent effort and show up half the time, they will still respect you and hold you in high regard, because, why not? When you are stoned out of your mind, you love everybody… so let’s not make this out to be a bigger deal then it needs to be. But, OK, he did get involved in the community blah blah blah, buh bye.

Now, Dominique Hasek, who retired as well after many great seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, can look back on his days in net and think, “ I love my cup ring.” After 16 years in the league, 6 time all-star winner, Vesna trophies, Heart trophies and is retiring with the league’s all time best save percentage. Though Hassek sat out this ’08 cup run and win, he has been a great net minder in the past and was pretty much at the top of his game in the last few years, keeping Detroit in the 1^st place position in the western conference. I know I will miss watching a 43 year old man blow my mind by doing the splits every so often, but fair enough, time to head back to Czech and drink terrific, 50 cent beer. Thanks for immigrating, and thanks for the memories.

And enjoy retirement! Lovely that you have half of your life left and tons of cash. I’ll just be over here, working till I’m 90.
